Congressman Jefferson Van Drew presents prestigious award to Capoferri in recognition of his success in business and his support for the community
Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, Atlantic City- More than 300 members of the Italian American community in New Jersey gathered to celebrate the achievements of both Bob Capoferri, recipient of the UNICO National Presidential Award for Lifetime Achievement in Business; and NFL Superbowl winning Quarterback Joe Flacco, recipient of the Vince Lombardi Award.

The UNICO Mid-Year Board of Directors Meeting and Presidential Banquet saw Bob & Joe surrounded by family, childhood friends, colleagues and many more. The event began with an elegant cocktail hour where friends and strangers alike felt like family on this truly momentous occasion. The Master of Ceremonies for the evening was award winning ESPN national correspondent Sal Paolantonio who led an incredible evening of celebrating Italian American patriotism and pride as well as the accomplishments of the two awards recipients.
Bob received the UNICO Presidential Award for Lifetime Achievement in Business after spending his career equally focused on building his incredibly successful business, Asphalt Paving Systems, while always maintaining a focus and commitment to the community. Bob was introduced and presented with his award by Congressman Jeff Van Drew. The Congressman recognized Bob’s commitment to excellence in construction and in philanthropy. Both he and Atlantic County Commissioner Amy Gatto presented Bob with official resolutions recognizing his life’s work.
A reoccurring theme for the evening was Bob’s love of family, community, and his recognition of his humble beginnings. During his acceptance remarks, Bob’s humility at what he has built and the impact he’s had on his local community, his industry and his State, were truly inspiring for the dinner guests. Most men who have built what he’s built would have an ego to match, but that clearly isn’t the case. Bob displayed true gratitude for the award as he doesn’t consider what he does award worthy, he just feels it’s the right thing to do. We could use a lot more Bob Capoferri’s in the business world right now.
Finally, as a surprise addition to what was already a momentous event, Bob’s longtime friend and President of the Hammonton Mt. Carmel Society, Lou Panteleone, presented Bob with an engraved Mt. Carmel pendant in recognition of Bob's unwavering support of the Mt. Carmel Society. Everyone in attendance became quite emotional as the friends embraced following the presentation.
